Woman to face court for motor vehicle theft

ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations Team executed a search warrant yesterday (Friday, 31 July) as part of an investigation into a series of aggravated burglaries and stolen motor vehicles which occurred during the month of July 2015.

During the search warrant police identified and seized property items that had been stolen from a large amount of vehicle break-ins.

As a result of the search warrant, a 25-year-old Gilmore woman was interviewed and subsequently charged with burglary, and motor vehicle theft. The woman received Watch House Bail and will face the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date in August.

The arrest provides a timely reminder for the public to ensure that no valuable belongings are left in their motor vehicles, and that they are adequately locked when parked during the day or evening.

ACT Policing is also encouraging the community to proactively report any suspicious behaviour, or suspicious lingering around car parks, both during the day and at night.
