Woman and man to face court for multiple offences

A 20-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man from Lyons will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning (Saturday, 10 March 2018) in relation to multiple offences.

About 3.20am on 21 March 2017, ACT Policing received a complaint of property damage to and theft from a vehicle parked in Blackall Street, Barton. Police enquiries resulted in a warrant being issued for the suspected offender.

About 9.35am yesterday (Friday, 9 March 2018) ACT Policing responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on Oatley Court, Belconnen.

Police attended and located a male and female asleep in the vehicle. Upon waking the occupants, the male driver unsuccessfully attempted to start the vehicle and flee from police.

After conducting enquiries, police arrested the male driver and female passenger, who were then transported to the ACT Watch House.

The male was subsequently charged with damage property, obtain property by deception, and minor theft.

The female was subsequently charged with possess prohibited substance.
