UPDATE Police investigate incident in Conder

ACT Policing is investigating an incident that occurred in Conder yesterday afternoon (Thursday, 2 August 2018).

About 4.55pm, emergency services responded to a report of a vehicle explosion in the carpark of St Clare of Assisi Primary School on Heidelberg Street.           

Tragically, a 51-year-old man died as a result of the explosion.

Police believe the incident is not suspicious. Early investigations suggest a leaking gas canister may have caused the explosion.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner with assistance from WorkSafe ACT.

Police are urging anyone who may have any information that could assist police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the website.
