Two men to face court on drug charges

Arrested for drug trafficking

Two men will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday, 15 October 2018) charged with trafficking a controlled drug as a result of a targeted operation by the ACT Policing Criminal Investigation Team.

As a result of information received by police, search warrants were executed on the weekend at a residence in Latham. During the search drugs and cash were found, including approximately 450 grams of cocaine with a potential street value of $250 000, and approximately 250 grams of cannabis.

A 38-year-old Latham man was arrested and will face court charged with three offences including trafficking in a controlled drug and being in possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of crime.

A 34-year-old Narrabundah man was also arrested and will face court charged with trafficking in a controlled drug.

ACT Policing Detective Superintendent Scott Moller said this is another good result for police in disrupting the supply of illegal drugs to Canberra.

“To remove any illicit drugs from Canberra’s streets is a good result, to remove this quantity of drugs is a very good result,” Detective Superintendent Moller said.

“We will continue to target anyone involved in the supply or distribution of illegal drugs in the ACT.”

Police are urging anyone who may have any information about the sale and supply of illicit drugs to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously.
