Two to face court after aggravated robbery in Conder

ACT Policing’s Armed Robbery Team and Criminal Investigations officers have arrested two men in connection with an aggravated robbery that occurred at McDonald’s in Conder in the early hours of Monday 2 October 2017.

About 4.00am on Monday, 2 October a staff member of the restaurant opened the drive-through window to serve a customer. At this time, a male offender armed with a knife jumped through the open window.

Other staff members present were instructed to sit on the ground while the offender made demands for cash. After taking a sum of cash from the safe and the cash register, the offender fled the restaurant on foot via the backdoor.

Around 8:30am Tuesday 3 October, police received information that persons of interest relating to the offence were at a house in Gilmore, ACT. 

Police attended the house and arrested two men, a 22-year-old Phillip man and a 24-year-old Gilmore man in connection with the aggravated robbery.  Police also located a Mitsubishi Galant in the rear yard of the Gilmore house, confirmed stolen from a Farrer residence earlier that day.

Both men are expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court today. The 24-year-old was charged with aggravated robbery. The 22-year-old was charged with knowingly concerned aggravated robbery, burglary, theft, drive motor vehicle without consent and drive while disqualified. Police will be opposing bail.

ACT Policing is urging anyone with information relating to aggravated robberies, or information about people conspiring to commit aggravated robberies to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.  Information can be provided anonymously and rewards of up to $1,000 may be applicable.
