Speeding P-plater has licence suspended

A speeding P-plater has had their licence suspended over the weekend after being caught driving in excess of 50km/h above the posted speed limit.

About 5.30pm on Saturday (2 September 2023) Road Policing officers were conducting speed enforcement operations on the Majura Parkway when they detected a black Honda Accord travelling at 153km/h in a 100km/h zone.

The driver, a 21-year-old Throsby woman, was stopped and produced an ACT Provisional Drivers Licence. The woman was issued with an Immediate Suspension Notice, suspending her right to drive in the ACT for three months, as well as a fine of $1,841.

Police continue to remind drivers of the need to keep to the speed limit. Excessive speeding puts the driver, any passengers and other road users at risk. Police now have the option to issue immediate licence suspension notices as well as seize vehicles if appropriate.
