ACT Policing is calling for witnesses and dash-cam footage of a fail to stop incident in Holt yesterday (Thursday, 6 June 2019).

About 12.50pm, ACT Policing Traffic Operations officers were on patrol in Holt when they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a green Holden Commodore station wagon being driven along Mockridge Crescent.

The driver of the Commodore failed to stop for police, speeding through the intersection of Mockridge Crescent and Griffiths Street.

The Commodore was driven away from police, continuing through Holt, Latham and Scullin.

Police allege that during this time the Commodore was driven on the wrong side of the road a number of times, as well as speeding through a number of school zones. Police also believe the driver of the Commodore committed a petrol drive-off from the 7-11 service station located on Starke Street, Holt.

Officer in Charge of Traffic Operations, Acting Station Sergeant David Wills said he was astounded by the driver’s recklessness.

“This driver has not only shown a blatant disregard for our traffic laws, but also a blatant disregard for safety on our roads,” Acting Station Sergeant Wills said.

“Driving on the wrong side of the road at oncoming traffic, and speeding through school zones – this is the sort of driving that leads to tragedy.

“I would strongly urge the driver of this vehicle to present themselves to police before our officers are knocking on your door.”

Anyone who may have any information that could assist police is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote reference 6403858. Information can be provided anonymously.
