Police seek public assistance following attempted aggravated burglary

About 6.55am on Saturday 30 December 2017, police were called to Domino’s in Fyshwick following reports of two Caucasian males attempting to steal a safe via a window.

The males were driving a white van bearing ACT registration: YKA69R, which was stolen from a business in Fyshwick.

Whilst attempting to flee the scene, the males have driven at police and on two occasions collided with police vehicles. They then proceeded to drive erratically, often on the wrong side of the road and were seen driving in the vicinity of Fyshwick Markets, Wentworth Avenue and Kings Avenue.

The vehicle was located a short time later in Hopetoun Circuit in Yarralumla, well alight and police believe the two males fled on foot in the direction of Red Hill. ACT Fire and Rescue attended the scene in Yarralumla and extinguished the fire.

Police are calling for anyone who may have seen or have dash-cam footage of the van driving erratically in the above areas, to please call 131 444 and provide contact details for follow up by investigators.

Additionally, police urge anyone who noticed anything suspicious, no matter how small, in the Yarralumla or Fyshwick areas between 1.00am – 8.00am on 30 December 2017 to contact ACT Policing Operations on 131 444.
