Police investigate fatal collision on Monaro Highway

Four people have died on our roads

ACT Policing is investigating a fatal collision on the Monaro Highway near Royalla earlier today (Tuesday, 3 September 2019).

About 9.30am, police responded to reports of a two vehicle collision approximately five kilometres south of the intersection with Johnson Drive.

Sadly, the driver of one of the vehicles died at the scene. This is the fourth death on ACT roads in 2019.

ACT Policing's Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team (CIRT) is examining the circumstances surrounding the collision and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

The Monaro Highway remains closed in both directions between the Johnson Drive and Old Cooma Road intersections.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area until further notice.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash-cam footage of the incident is asked to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously.
