Police call for witnesses to Belconnen child approach

ACT Policing is investigating reports of a child approach at a Belconnen area primary school today, Friday 17 August 2018.

Around 11am, police responded to reports of two primary students being approached near the school boundary fence by a man.

The offender is described as having a dark complexion and a black beard. He was wearing a black unzipped hooded jumper, a black shirt with writing on the front, dark tracksuit pants, a black beanie and a square, silver and gold watch.  

Police are seeking witnesses and any dash-cam or CCTV footage from the area at the time of the incident around 10.30am.

Police are particularly interested in speaking to three walkers who may have been in the area at the time. 

Police are urging anyone who may have any information that could assist police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote reference 6298697. Information can be provided anonymously.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to teach their children good personal safety practices including stranger safety, and to contact police immediately if they become aware of similar incidents.
