Police call for information on murder of two year old child

UPDATE

ACT Policing Criminal Investigations is investigating what is believed to be the murder of two year old child, Safa Annour.

This little girl was taken to Canberra Hospital about 1.50pm on Monday 30 April 2018, and tragically despite resuscitation attempts she was pronounced dead shortly after.

A post mortem examination established that Safa died as the result of blunt force trauma and fatal internal bleeding. These injuries were caused by another person.

Police have identified two people responsible for Safa’s care during the time she is suspected to have received her fatal injuries.

Police have released Transport Canberra bus footage taken about 8.40am in Stuart Street, Griffith on the day Safa died. In the footage Safa looks to be uninjured and waved happily to the bus driver.

Detective Superintendent Scott Moller said police have worked vigorously to investigate numerous lines of enquiry.

“ACT Policing believe there are people in the community who have information relating to what we believe is Safa’s murder and we are asking anyone with information about the toddler’s death to come forward,” Detective Superintendent Moller said.

“We have a dedicated team of investigators who will be accepting information relating to Safa’s murder directly.”
