Murder: Mugga Lane landfill searched

As part of the ongoing investigation into the murder of Francis (Frank) Campbell, ACT Policing’s Territory Investigation Group detectives today conducted a search of the Mugga Lane Landfill in an effort to locate further evidence.

The investigation commenced after Mr Campbell’s body was located in his Wilkins Street, Mawson, home on Monday May 2 this year.

Based on information provided to police by Thiess Services, who maintain landfill records, a specific area of the tip was identified at which rubbish was dumped in the days after Mr Campbell's body was found.

ACT Policing members as well as staff of the Emergency Services Authority and volunteers from the SES searched the identified area for clothing and a possible weapon that may have been discarded in a residential garbage bin in the hours after Mr Campbell was killed.

A meticulous search of this area was conducted with the assistance of 20 police alongside 50 ACT Emergency Services staff.

Anyone with information about the murder of Frank Campbell is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
