Misleading information unhelpful

ACT Policing today described as misleading and unhelpful local news broadcasts on May 4 about the murder of Mawson man, Francis John Campbell. In a statement today Deputy Chief Police Officer, Commander Steve Lancaster said:

"Certain ACT broadcasters released information about the suspected cause of death of Francis John Campbell whose body was found in the early hours of Monday (May 2) morning in Mawson.

"This information is incorrect and besides causing undue distress to family members of the deceased, it has misled the community and has the potential to impact on the ongoing police investigation into this incident.

"The manner and circumstances of Mr Campbell’s death will be released by ACT Policing at the appropriate time."
