Man facing court for aggravated robbery

Facing court

Police have arrested a 31-year-old man in relation to an aggravated robbery at McDonalds in Braddon early this morning (Friday, 1 September 2017).

About 4.10am, a male entered the store, threatened staff with a knife and made demands for cash. He directed the staff to enter a storeroom, where a staff member then contacted police.

Members from City Patrol General Duties and the Regional Targeting Team responded and located the man who was fleeing on foot along Cooyong Street.

The man was arrested and conveyed to the ACT Watch House.

The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning (Friday, 1 September 2017) charged with aggravated robbery.

Acting Superintendent North District Adrian Craft praised the staff members.

“Due to the quick thinking of staff members who contacted police while the incident was occurring, we were able to quickly respond and apprehend the offender.”

“It’s cases like these that really show what can be done when the community and police work together.” Acting Superintendent Craft said.
