Man to face court for property damage and assaulting a police officer

A 29-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrate’s Court this morning (Monday, 5 March 2018) after being arrested in Hughes.

At about 3.30am on Sunday, 4 March 2018, ACT Policing responded to several calls of a person smashing a window. About 3.50am, a man was arrested and taken into police custody.

Whilst in custody the man became verbally and physically aggressive towards police.

The man caused a significant amount of property damage to several cells.

The man was charged with assault, obstruct/ resist territory public official (knowingly), and destroy/damage commonwealth property.
