Man to face court on firearms charges

A 37-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today on weapons charges.

About 9.45am yesterday (Thursday, 1 November) ACT Policing were called to a residence in Kambah where they conducted a brief search and located two firearms.

Following the search, members of ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations Team, along with AFP Specialist Response Group (SRG) and Canine Team, commenced a search for the man around the Tuggeranong area.

The man was found a short time later following a traffic stop in Wanniassa.

He was subsequently arrested, with a search of his vehicle revealing another firearm.

The man has been charged with Unlawful Possession of Firearms and Using a Carriage Service to Menace/Harass. He will face court this morning where bail will be opposed.
