Man to face court on firearms and threat to kill charges

Facing court

A 67-year-old Dunlop man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Saturday, 27 January 2018), following an incident in Florey yesterday.

About 2pm, on Friday January 26, officers from Belconnen Police Station were called to reports of a man with a firearm at a residence in Florey.

Police will allege the man became involved in a verbal argument about a parked vehicle before retrieving a Beretta single barrel shotgun from his vehicle and threatening two men. A scuffle ensued and the firearm was removed from the 67-year-old until police arrived.

He was arrested and charged with possess offensive weapon with intent, unauthorised possession or use of prohibited firearm, and two counts of reckless threat to kill a person.

Police will oppose bail.
