Man to face court for armed robberies

A 35-year-old Lyneham man will face the ACT Magistrate’s Court today (Friday, 6 April 2018) following multiple aggravated robberies.

On Saturday 17 March 2018 the man was involved in an aggravated robbery of the North Lyneham Mini Mart. He threatened the cashier with a knife and left with a sum of cash.

About 10.46am Monday (2 April 2018), a man entered a Braddon Supermarket located on Lowanna Street. The man produced a knife and demanded cash from the till. Staff complied with the demands and the offender left with a sum of cash.

In a separate incident, a male entered a newsagency, on Wattle Street Lyneham, about 8.20am on Wednesday (4 April 2018). The man walked around behind the register and produced a knife and demanded money. Staff did not comply with the demands and the offender left.

About 8.35am the same day, a male entered the O’Connor IGA Supermarket.

The male approached the counter produced a knife and demanded cash. Staff complied and the offender fled on a push bike with a sum of cash.

Police responded to each of the incidents and investigations commenced. Officers conducted a number of search warrants and investigations led police to arrest a 35-year-old Lyneham man on Wednesday evening (4 April 2018).

The man will face the ACT Magistrate’s Court this morning for charges relating to aggravated robberies and an attempt aggravated robbery.

Police investigations are ongoing.
