Four people will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning on a total of 21 drug trafficking charges, after ACT Policing executed search warrants yesterday (Wednesday, 1 August 2018).

Members from ACT Policing Criminal Investigations, assisted by other ACT Policing, Australian Federal Police, and NSW Police Force officers executed search warrants at premises in Macgregor, Cook, Macquarie and Queanbeyan as part of Operation Ghar, an ongoing drugs and organised crime investigation.

During these searches, police seized a trafficable quantity of a substance suspected to be cocaine, more than 1000 pills suspected of being MDMA and approximately $5000 cash.

As a result of these search warrants a 39‑year‑old man from Mackellar, a 32‑year‑old Cook man, a 46‑year‑old man from Macquarie and a 20‑year‑old Queanbeyan woman were arrested. They will face a combined total of 21 charges of trafficking in a controlled drug.

Detective Station Sergeant Harry Hains said ACT Policing is committed to preventing the supply of illicit drugs into the Canberra community.

“ACT Policing will continue to conduct operations such as these. If you are involved in drug supply you never really know who is watching,” said Detective Station Sergeant Hains.

“Operation Ghar remains ongoing and we will continue to target drug dealers to disrupt the supply of drugs in our community.”

“If you have information about the trafficking or supply of illicit drugs please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the ACT Crime Stoppers website. Information can be provided anonymously.”
