Drug trafficking investigation yields second arrest

A 38-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Wednesday, 14 June 2023) following his arrest as part of an ongoing investigation by ACT Policing’s Drugs and Organised Crime Team.    

On Tuesday, 6 June 2023, a 33-year-old man from Phillip was arrested following a traffic stop on the Barton Highway. A search of the man’s vehicle revealed, among other items, five kilograms of methamphetamine, and the man was subsequently charged with drug trafficking.    

Acting on information from this arrest, about 10.20am Tuesday, 13 June, police executed a search warrant at a business on Collie Street, Fyshwick.     

During this warrant, police allegedly located a number of items of evidentiary value, while they also seized a sum of cash and a white Toyota Hilux utility.    

The 38-year-old man was subsequently arrested at the location, and has been charged with two counts of trafficking a commercial quantity of a controlled drug, and a single count of participating in a criminal group.
