Drink driver crashes into light pole
ACT Policing last night (September 23) arrested a 26-year-old Kambah man who crashed his car into a light pole in Oxley, then recorded a high-range result from a breath analysis.
Tuggeranong General Duties officers attended Judkins Street in Oxley around 7.20pm where they found a Ford Falcon utility with front-end damage after hitting the pole.
The driver had a bloodied nose but otherwise appeared uninjured. The driver recorded a positive result to a roadside screening test for alcohol and later returned 0.163 grams of alcohol per 210 litres of breath. This places him in the highest drink-driving range, being Level 4.
The male admitted to police he had been drinking since noon yesterday, and had driven from Gungahlin to Oxley.
This drink-driving incident follows on from another earlier this week. Early on Monday afternoon (September 22), a Woden General Duties patrol on Yarra Glen, in Curtin stopped the driver of a silver Nissan Pulsar which had been seen to suddenly swerve into the breakdown lane, then across two other lanes of traffic, almost hitting their police vehicle.
The 48-year-old woman driver of the Pulsar returned a positive roadside screening test and later returned a breath analysis reading of 0.214. She was issued with an immediate suspension notice.
