Dickson man charged with possession of a firearm

A 36-year-old Dickson man will face the ACT Magistrate’s Court this morning (Friday, 16 February 2018), charged with unlawful possession of firearms and trespass.

About 12.50am today, officers from City Police Station arrested a male trespassing at a business in Fyshwick.

When Police conducted a search of the man’s backpack they located a loaded and modified .22 calibre bolt-action rifle. A knife was also in the man’s possession.

The man was charged with unauthorised possession of a firearm, possess ammunition generally, possess knife without reasonable excuse, trespass on premises and going equipped for theft.

Police will oppose bail.
