Australia Day revellers well-behaved

Thank you Canberra

ACT Policing is pleased with the safe and responsible behaviour of the Australia Day revellers that celebrated in the nation’s capital yesterday (Friday, 26 January 2018).

Dedicated patrols were assigned to the Australia Day 2018 celebrations, including the National Flag Raising and Citizenship Ceremony and the live entertainment and fireworks at Regatta Point.

Police were not required to respond to any major incidents and there were no major collisions on ACT roads. One person was arrested for drink driving, and two missing children were reunited with their families.

Double demerits will remain in effect until midnight Sunday, 28 January 2018, for all speeding, seatbelt, riding without a helmet and mobile phone offences. An additional demerit point applies for all other traffic offences.
