Arrest and continuing investigation after overnight shooting in Dunlop

ACT Policing has arrested one man and is seeking two other people after a shooting at a residence in Dunlop last night (Saturday, 30 May 2020).

About 9pm, police received reports that a man had been shot through the front door of his residence in Percy Begg Circuit, Dunlop. This report followed a disturbance in the same street earlier in the evening.

On arrival, police confirmed that the man had received injuries from a shotgun. He was taken to hospital by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics.

Officers established a crime scene and AFP Forensic Services, Firearms Investigators and Canine units attended to examine the area. AFP Search and Rescue personnel conducted a search of the area.

About 1am Sunday (31 May) a 32-year-old man from Charnwood was arrested at his home and taken to the Regional Watch House. He will face multiple charges arising from this incident at the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police are still seeking two associates of the arrested man; another male, and a female who was involved in the earlier disturbance. It is believed they ran from Percy Begg Circuit into De Mole Street.

ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations team is continuing to investigate the incident, which is not believed to be related to criminal gang activity.
