Following an investigation by ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigation Team, an Australian Federal Police (AFP) appointee will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Tuesday, 8 May 2018).

The 49-year-old man was arrested yesterday and formally charged with child grooming.

Acting Chief Police Officer for the ACT Mark Walters said ACT Policing and the AFP take any allegations of misconduct seriously, especially those who target the most vulnerable members of our society.

“As the matter is now before the court, it would be inappropriate to comment further.”

Allegations of misconduct are addressed in accordance with a robust complaints management framework with oversight or investigation by Professional Standards.
