Women to face court over aggravated robbery

A 23-year-old woman and a 19-year-old woman will face the ACT Magistrates Court today charged in relation to an aggravated robbery.  

The incident occurred about 3.25pm on Sunday, 8 September when the pair allegedly stole a black Volkswagen Golf in Rivett. The women also allegedly made threats towards the owner of the Golf and her young child during this incident.

The women have also been charged in relation to the theft of a vehicle used in the Rivett incident.

Enquiries led by Criminal Investigation officers resulted in the arrest of the two women following the interception of a taxi they were travelling in in Rivett at about 3.15 yesterday (9 September, 2019).

The 23-year-old woman has been charged with aid and abet an aggravated robbery, ride/drive a motor vehicle without consent and in relation to warrants for unrelated matters.

The 19-year-old has been charged with aggravated robbery, take a motor vehicle without consent and use of an offensive weapon (vehicle).

Police will oppose bail.

The investigation into other incidents that occurred between Saturday and Monday are continuing and further charges are expected to be laid.
