Woman to face court on unlicensed and dangerous driving charges

Facing Court

A 27-year-old Hackett woman is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today (15 July 2020) charged with a range of offences following a pursuit last night.

About 12.35am ACT Policing patrols observed a white Peugeot fail to stop at a red light in Fyshwick.

A marked patrol car followed the vehicle to Dairy Flat Rd where officers attempted to pull over the driver.

The driver failed to stop and continued on to Newcastle St where road spikes were deployed.

The vehicle continued along Canberra Ave before coming to a stop in Griffith.

The driver was arrested and was charged with a range of driving offenses including dangerous driving, driving without a licence, failing to stop for police, driving an unregistered as well as uninsured vehicle in addition to driving while under the influence of drugs.

Further investigation also led to police laying further drug possession charges in addition to charges relating to the possession of a prohibited weapon.
