Witnesses sought to Fyshwick hit-run

ACT Policing is seeking to identify the driver of a dark-coloured Holden utility who may be a key witness to a collision in Fyshwick today (May 22) when a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle whose driver failed to stop and render assistance.

The witness was driving a purple/black Holden utility, possibly an SS version, southbound on Newcastle St.

Around 12.30pm today, a 37-year-old Conder man was crossing Newcastle Street in Fyshwick when he was struck by a silver Ford Fairlane sedan.

The impact of the collision lifted the victim over the bonnet of the vehicle and badly injured his left leg.
 
The 53-year-old driver of the Fairlane failed to stop however, he later attended Woden Police Station and is assisting ACT Policing’s Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team (CIRT) with their enquiries.
