Two to face court for aggravated burglary

Facing court

Two people have been charged with burglary and obtaining a financial advantage by deception following arrests in Kambah on the weekend.

On Friday (21 September 2018) a home in Bonython was broken into and a large number of items including jewelry, credit cards and vehicle keys were taken.

Following information received from a neighbour at the Bonython burglary and the victim, police on patrol in Kambah early on Saturday morning (22 September 2018) located a vehicle believed to be associated with the burglary parked at a residence.

Shortly after, a 25-year-old male and a 33-year-old female were arrested. Both were subsequently charged with aggravated burglary and obtaining a financial advantage by deception.

They are scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday (24 September 2018).

Items recovered from the Kambah premises included all items taken from the Bonython burglary and items associated with a recent burglary in Mawson.

Police are reminding the community to be aware of unfamiliar vehicles and people around their residences and if concerned, note the registration, vehicle make and model and a description of the people.

Anyone who may have any information about criminal activity that could assist police can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously.
