Traffic and property offender to face court

ACT Policing has arrested a 36-year-old man after the execution of a search warrant at a Giralang residence yesterday, Tuesday, 3 March 2020.

The execution of the warrant was a targeted operation in relation to numerous traffic, property and other offences.

The multi-agency exercise involved Belconnen and City police station police officers, Search and Rescue officers, Forensics Investigators, AFP Canine, ACT Fire & Rescue and ACT Domestic Animal Services.

A total of 90 items were seized during the search warrant.

The 36-year-old will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (4 March 2020) on the following charges:

  • Unlawful possession of stolen property
  • Keep animal (other than exempt animal)
  • Possession of an unregistered firearm
  • Unauthorised possession of a prohibited firearm
  • Fail to comply with storage requirements – prohibited firearm
  • Possess firearm with ID mark removed
  • Fail to stop motor vehicle for police
  • Reckless driving
  • Drive while licence suspended
  • Use unregistered vehicle
  • Use uninsured vehicle
  • Breach of good behaviour order

Bail will be opposed, and investigations into the stolen property will continue in an effort to identify the owners. Police expect to lay further charges.
