Man charged with act of indecency in Conder

Yesterday morning (Tuesday 25 September 2018) ACT Policing responded to a report of an alleged indecent exposure in Conder.

A female student walking to school was allegedly approached and spoken to by a man. The man then exposed himself to her. She ran from the location and shortly after informed teachers at the school.

As a result of information quickly provided by the student and another witness, a 43-year-old Gordon man was arrested yesterday afternoon.

He was subsequently charged with committing an act of indecency against a child and will face the ACT Magistrates Court today.

Possible links between this man and other child approach incidents are being investigated.

Detective Superintendent Scott Moller said that the information provided by the student was invaluable.

“The information that was quickly provided by the victim and another witness gave our investigators a great starting point to identify and locate this man,” Detective Superintendent Moller said.

“ACT Policing’s Taskforce Tydeus will continue to use all available resources to pursue reports of child approaches.

“We are also asking for any other witnesses to the incident to contact police.”
