Speeding drink driver four times the limit

Police vehicle in traffic with flashing red and blue lights

A 44-year-old man from Jerrabomberra, NSW has been charged with high-range drink-driving, after he was stopped by ACT Policing officers on Tuesday afternoon (12 March 2019).

Around 2.25pm officers conducting mobile patrol in an unmarked vehicle on Tuggeranong Parkway were overtaken by a blue Ford Falcon utility.

Police followed the utility to determine the vehicle’s speed and safely intercept it. It will be alleged that the vehicle reached speeds estimated to be in excess of 150km/h.

Police stopped the utility and the driver was subjected to a roadside breath test which returned a positive result. The driver was then conveyed to City Police Station where he underwent further analysis, returning a result of 0.227, which is more than four times the legal limit for a full licence holder.

Dash-cam footage of this incident can be viewed on the ACT Policing facebook page.

The man has been granted bail and will be summonsed to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date charged with level four drink-driving, aggravated dangerous driving and speeding.
