Six charged following incident at youth detention facility

Man to be extradited to New South Wales to face murder charge

ACT Policing has charged six teenage males in relation to an incident at the Bimberi Youth Justice Centre on 26 August, 2019. 

About 7pm, police responded to reports of a disturbance involving detainees at the Centre.

Following investigations into the incident, police have charged six males with a range of offences.

These include assault, conspiracy to escape, aggravated robbery, possess offensive weapon, obstruct territory official, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray, and possess stolen property.  

Five teenagers will face the ACT Children’s Court in December 2019 and February 2020. One has already appeared before court.
