ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a hit and run on Ginninderra Drive Wednesday night (9 August).

Around 9.55pm, a motorcyclist was travelling east on Ginninderra Drive, when a Toyota Hilux pulled out in front of the motorcycle from William Slim Drive, causing the motorcycle to collide heavily with the rear of the utility.

The driver of the Hilux was seen to stop approximately 100 metres up the road, and then left the scene without checking the rider or leaving details. The motorcyclist was transported to the Canberra Hospital as a precaution.

Acting Station Sergeant Marcus Boorman of Traffic Operations said police were looking for a white Toyota Hilux, with a white tub tray, displaying a ‘P’ plate on the back window.

“We believe the right hand side of the rear of the Hilux would have sustained damage in the collision,” said Acting Station Sergeant Boorman.

“If you were driving that vehicle, or were a passenger in that vehicle, you need to come forward and make contact with police by attending a police station or calling 131 444.”

Police urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision or anyone who may be able to identify the driver to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the ACT Crime Stoppers website. Please quote reference 6138400. Information can be provided anonymously.
