Police seek witnesses to aggravated robberies in Downer

ACT Policing is calling for witnesses, CCTV and dash-cam footage of two aggravated robberies in Downer on Sunday, 6 October 2019.

The offender allegedly threatened the victims with a firearm during both aggravated robberies, and police believe the incidents are linked.

About 5.10am, a man attempted to force his way into a residence on Melba Street and demanded the occupant’s car keys. The offender then fled the residence empty handed, however two vehicles at the location were ransacked.

Then, about 5.40am, a man forced his way into a house on Atherton Street, where he demanded the resident’s car keys. The resident complied and the man took the car, a white Volkswagon Polo. Police have since recovered this vehicle.

The offender is described as Caucasian in appearance, ‘tall’, with blue eyes. He was wearing dark clothing, a black cap and a red bandana across his face at the time of the robberies.

He was accompanied by a woman, who is described as ‘very short’, wearing a bulky black jacket.
