Police seek persons responsible for improvised weapon assault

ACT Policing is calling for the persons responsible for an assault with an improvised weapon at roadworks on Coppins Crossing Road to come forward.

About 9am Tuesday, 15 January 2019, a projectile was fired from a maroon-coloured vehicle travelling westbound through the roadworks zone at the intersection of Coppins Crossing Road and William Hovell Drive. One man was hit by this projectile. A second man was struck after the projectile ricocheted off the first man.

ACT Ambulance Service was called, and the first man was transported to hospital for extensive treatment to the significant injuries he received. The second man was uninjured.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated by ACT Policing.

Police are urging the people involved in this attack to present themselves at a police station. Additionally, police would like to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam footage or any information that could assist police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
