Police operation results in seizure of more than 180 cannabis plants

Seized DOWNER

A 56-year-old man will be summonsed to face court following the seizure of more than 180 cannabis plants from a residence in Downer yesterday (Tuesday, 19 February 2019).

About 3pm, ACT Policing City Patrol members executed a search warrant at a residence in Downer.

During the search warrant, officers seized 182 cannabis plants, approximately 300 cannabis seeds and approximately two kilograms of dried cannabis.

The man will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Officer in Charge of City Station, Detective Station Sergeant Adrian Craft said this was another significant drug seizure by ACT Policing members.

“Large quantities of cannabis such as this are often sold for criminal profit, so I applaud our officers for the success of this operation in getting these drugs off our streets,” Detective Station Sergeant Craft said.

ACT Policing will continue to target and disrupt the illicit production, distribution and trafficking of drugs in the ACT.

Anyone with any information about the manufacture, distribution or supply of illicit drugs is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously.
