Police investigate historical sexual assault case

ACT Policing is continuing inquiries in relation to a historical sexual assault investigation, which is likely to have occurred from the 1970’s up until the 1990’s.

Police are urging any witnesses or victims to come forward, who attended a family day care operating from a house in Curtin.

Information is also sought from those who were involved with a Church in Curtin during this time, where suspicious activity was occurring.

ACT Policing has established Operation Attest to investigate allegations of historical sexual abuse at institutions within the ACT. Operation Attest gives victims a streamlined process of reporting historical sexual offences at institutions, should they wish to do so.

The emotional hardship and courage involved in coming forward to Police is acknowledged by ACT Policing. However Operation Attest provides the appropriate avenue to do so, as victim privacy is respected and upheld throughout the entirety of the process.

Victims seeking further information relating to Operation Attest can do so by visiting http://www.police.act.gov.au/  or by contacting Operation Attest via e-mail Op-Attest@afp.gov.au
