Police investigate fatal collision on Monaro Highway

ACT Policing is investigating a fatal collision which occurred on the Monaro Highway on Sunday (August 10).

About 4.40pm, a two car collision occurred on the Monaro Highway, Royalla, at the intersection of Old Cooma Road, involving a Toyota Corolla and Hilux.

The impact caused significant damage to the Corolla sedan with the passenger sustaining life threatening injuries. Both the driver and passenger were conveyed to The Canberra Hospital by the ACT Ambulance Service.

The passenger, a 25-year-old man, later died in hospital.

An infant from the Hilux was also transported to The Canberra Hospital for observation.

Traffic flows along the highway were restricted for about three hours while the collision scene was processed. 

The man is the seventh person to die on an ACT road this year.

ACT Policing's Traffic Operations - Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team will prepare a report for the Coroner.
