Man to face court for trespass and assaulting police officer

A 19-year-old Duffy man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday, 21 May 2018) for trespass and assaulting a police officer earlier this morning.

About 1.10am, police responded to a report of a possible trespass on a residential development on Colbung Street and Fairhall Street, Coombs.

Officers commenced a search of the premise and located a man attempting to flee. As officers approached the man he grabbed an item from the building and struck one of the officers on the shoulder and back.

The man was taken to the ACT Watch House and charged with obstruct/resists Territory public official (knowingly), common assault, trespass on premises and possess offensive weapon with intent.
