Man to face court on threat to kill and forcible confinement charges

A 45-year-old man is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Saturday 18 April 2020) on a number of serious offences including forcible confinement and threats to kill.

It is alleged that about 12am on Sunday 12 April, the man threatened another man before striking him a number of times with an axe handle.

The man is alleged to have then produced a knife making threats to kills or seriously harm the victim.

A short time later the man is alleged to have picked up the victim's dog and made threats to kill it.

About 7.30am the same day, the man drove the victim to hospital.

Across a number of days the victim recieved a number of threatening text messages from the man.

About 8.40am yesterday (Friday 18 April 2020), police attended a residence in Gowrie and arrested the man.

The man is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court on a number of charges including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, forcible confinement, threats to kill, cruelty to animals and use of carriage service to harrass.
