Man to face court for multiple serious charges

A 31-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday, 20 May 2019), charged with multiple serious offences.

About 8:00am on Friday (17 May 2019), police received reports a man had allegedly stolen a motor vehicle (silver Toyota Corolla) by force on Reed Street in Greenway.

An investigation commenced and about 11:30am on Saturday (18 May 2019), police received reports a silver Toyota Corolla was driving dangerously on Boddington Crescent in Kambah.

A short time later, it is alleged the driver of the Toyota Corolla attempted to steal two motor vehicles by force at a petrol station on Marconi Crescent in Kambah. Members of the public attempted to intervene and were threatened with a weapon.

The driver of the Toyota Corolla then collided with a parked vehicle in the Kambah Village Shopping Centre car park before allegedly attempting to steal another motor vehicle by force. Members of the public intervened trapping the man in the motor vehicle until police arrived.

The driver of the Toyota Corolla was arrested and transported to the ACT Watch House. No one was seriously injured during these incidents.

The 31-year-old man has been charged with robbery, four counts of attempt robbery, dangerous driving, drive motor vehicle without consent, going equipped for theft, aggravated burglary, theft, attempt aggravated robbery, breach of bail and an outstanding warrant. Police will oppose bail.
