Man to face court for multiple offences

A 29-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Tuesday, 7 January, 2020) following his arrest yesterday in relation to several recent incidents.

Following a coordinated operation, ACT Policing officers apprehended the man in Watson yesterday. He was in a vehicle allegedly stolen on Sunday (5 January), which had been packed by its owner in preparation for a bushfire evacuation.

It will be alleged that during his arrest, the man drove the stolen vehicle at two police vehicles, damaging both of them.

The man will face charges of driving a stolen motor vehicle, failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, driving having never held a licence, and breach of parole.

The man will also face a charge of aggravated robbery in company in relation to an incident at Hawker on Tuesday, 24 December, 2019.

He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today where police will oppose bail.
