Man to face court for multiple offences

A 26-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday, 19 August 2019), charged with multiple offences.

Police will allege about 5:00am on Saturday, 17 August 2019, a resident from a house on Haxton Place, Conder, interrupted two men stealing tools from a parked vehicle.

About 7:20am, the men were observed stealing number plates from a vehicle on Heidelberg Street, Conder. A short time later the men were observed attempting to gain access to the garage of a residence on Neri Place, Conder.

The men were confronted at each location, and allegedly drove at residents in a stolen motor vehicle (a blue Nissan Pathfinder) on Heidelberg Street and Neri Place as they fled the scene. No-one was injured during these incidents.

Following discussions with witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage, police attended a residence on Greaves Place, Conder, where they arrested the 26-year-old man.

A search warrant was conducted and police seized an amount of property including suspected stolen property.

The man has been charged with three counts of theft, two counts of dangerous driving, attempt theft, possess drug of dependence, possess a declared substance without authority and drive motor vehicle without consent. Police will oppose bail.
