Man to face court for multiple driving offences

Facing court

A 32-year-old Evatt man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Wednesday, 20 May, 2020) following his arrest yesterday.

About 3.30pm an ACT Policing motorcyclist indicated to the male driver of a Blue Subaru Liberty that he should slow down as he was approaching a school zone in Baddeley Crescent, Spence.

Police will allege the driver accelerated away onto Kingsford Smith Drive, Alpen Street, and Alfred Hill Crescent, reaching speeds in excess of 100km/h in a 60 zone.

Later that afternoon, police received information that led them to locate the vehicle and the alleged driver in Evatt.

Police will further allege that after his arrest the man tried to flee on foot, but was apprehended as he attempted to jump a fence.

The man will face charges of failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, using an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, drug driving, and attempting to escape from custody.

He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today.
