Man to face court for multiple charges

Facing court

A 32-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday, 14 January 2019), charged with multiple driving offences, assaults and indecent exposure.

About 12:00pm yesterday (Sunday, 13 January 2019), police attended Tralee Street in Hume following the report of a disturbance.

Police will allege the drug affected man assaulted three members of the public before driving off in one of the victim’s vehicles.

A short time later, it’s alleged the man was driving in a southbound direction on the Monaro Highway when he swerved in front of a cyclist causing the cyclist to collide with the side of the vehicle and fall off his bicycle. He then assaulted the cyclist before two members of the public intervened.

It’s alleged the man then walked onto the road and  committed an indecent act while attempting to wave down traffic.

A short time later, police arrested the man who was running in a southerly direction on Isabella Drive.

The man has been charged with negligent driving, four counts of common assault, indecent exposure, driving under the influence of a drug and aggravated dangerous driving. Police will oppose bail.
