Man to face court charged with grooming offence

A 41-year-old Evatt man was arrested and charged by the ACT Policing Criminal Investigations Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team and will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Thursday, 24 January 2019).

Police will allege that the man used a carriage service to groom a person under 16 years of age.

ACT Policing Criminal Investigations commenced an investigation late last year, following a referral from NSW Police.

The man was arrested, charged and strict bail conditions imposed.

Police will allege the man, acting in his capacity as a member of the clergy, groomed a 14-year-old girl using a mobile phone application between October-November 2018.
