Man charged with murder following Kingston Hotel death

A 35-year-old Griffith man is expected to face court today over the death of a man at the Kingston Hotel on Sunday, 5 July 2020.

Police attended the hotel about 9.15pm following reports of a disturbance at the location to find ACT Ambulance Service paramedics at the scene treating an injured 44-year-old man.

The man, later identified as Warren Hordpenko from Dalmeny, New South Wales, sadly passed away at the scene a short time later.

Police will allege that night about 8.58pm the defendant entered the hotel and assaulted the deceased.

Following a police investigation, the man was arrested yesterday (9 July 2020) in the city area about 1.20pm and has been charged with murder.

He is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court today.
