A 41-year-old man with no fixed address was arrested and charged yesterday following a serious incident in North Lyneham.

About 4.30pm police observed a Volkswagen sedan believed to be stolen, parked at the North Lyneham shops.

Significant police resources were deployed into the area in an effort to locate the man.

He was subsequently found hiding in the rear yard of a residence in The Sanctuary housing complex, where he was arrested.

A modified firearm was located when police searched the vehicle.

The man was charged with numerous offences including drive a vehicle without consent, drive while disqualified, fail to stop, dangerous driving and failing to appear in court. He is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today (Thursday 24 October 2019).

Investigations into the man’s actions are continuing and further charges are expected to be laid.
