Man charged with manslaughter after death of 89 year old woman

A 60-year-old Melba man has been charged with manslaughter and is due to face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Wednesday, 22 July 2020) following an assault of an 89-year-old woman in 2018.

It will be alleged that the woman and man were both residents of a Campbell aged-care facility on 13 November 2018 when the man assaulted the woman resulting in a number of injuries including a fractured hip joint.

ACT Ambulance Service paramedics treated the woman and transported her to hospital. She died in hospital on 4 December 2018.

The man was arrested on March 24, 2020 following an extensive police investigation.
